The Klein Tools 1656-40 Chicago® Grip for Bare Wire is engineered for securely pulling bare ACSR, AAC (aluminum), and stranded copper conductors while minimizing cable damage. Its round, smooth inside jaw contour provides maximum surface contact, allowing the grip to firmly hold conductors without deforming or damaging the cable strands during pulling operations.
Constructed from custom drop-forged, heat-treated steel, the 1656-40 is built to withstand demanding utility and transmission applications. Every grip is individually hand inspected, actuated for proper function, and rigorously load tested to ensure dependable performance and long service life in the field.
Designed for conductors ranging from 0.53 to 0.74-Inch (13.46 to 18.8 mm) in diameter, the smooth round jaws help reduce slippage while maintaining proper cable alignment.
