Designed specifically for Extra-High-Strength (EHS) galvanized-steel cable, this grip features a unique double V-contour curved jaw that minimizes cable slippage and reduces conductor damage caused by galvanized coatings during pulling operations.
Constructed from high-strength steel and proudly Made in the USA, the 1684-74 delivers dependable performance for demanding field work. Its milled curved jaws provide superior gripping action on a wide variety of conductors including aluminum, copper, weatherproof-coated wire, PVC-covered conductors, messenger wire, and guy strand. The integrated locking handle keeps the jaws open during installation, allowing safer and easier placement of the grip using a hot stick.
Designed for cable diameters ranging from 0.218 to 0.55-Inch (5.54 to 13.97 mm), this Chicago® Grip offers a maximum safe load of 8,000 lb (3,628.7 kg), making it suitable for demanding wire pulling and tensioning applications while maintaining reliable gripping performance.
